Antioxidants are great for our organs and our skin, but why? Basically antioxidants combat oxidants. But, still why are they good for us?
Oxidisation is a natural process that occurs on the inside and outside of our bodies. Similar to how a bike begins to rust or fruit turns brown. The process is degenerative for organs and skin. For skin the results can be fine lines, wrinkles and premature ageing.
We can’t stop oxidisation but we can moderate the damaging effects by understanding what helps and what does not.
Exposure to UV light, stress, a hormone imbalance and poor nutrition are just some of the contributors that accelerate oxidisation.
So, how can we help slow down the oxidative process? Look for facial products that have anti oxidants in them like green tea, drink some green tea, put on some sunscreen and get yourself some acupuncture to combat stress and hormones!!
